Our Home

Throughout the summer Jake would occasionally ask me, “mom, where is our home?” My response, “um, well, we don’t have one right now.” I assured him that our house was waiting for us in Japan… somewhere in Japan.
After almost six months living out of our suitcases, mooching floor space from our friends and family, and living in two temp apartments in NYC and Tokyo, we finally have a place to call OUR home!
We live in a quiet neighborhood just outside Tokyo in Chiba prefecture. Much to our kids’ delight, our house is a ten-minute walk to Disneyland and Disney Sea (an amusement park geared more for adults). Every night the kids rush excitedly to their bedroom window to watch Disney’s fireworks show. We have a lot of city parks in walking distance and Ethan’s soon-to-be school is right down the street.
And then there are the neighbors. What would we do without our wonderful neighbors? We literally would go insane and hijack a plane, forcing it to go to America. We have several foreigner families from the U.S., who live pretty much right next door to us, or close by. They have been such a blessing in our lives. Without their help, giving us numerous car rides (up until last Saturday, we didn’t have a car), babysitting, and the list goes on, our transition here would have been very difficult. Thanks to them we can put the straitjackets away.

This is home sweet home

You mean we can do Disneyland and visit you guys, and a foreign country all in one trip? Hmmm... Very tempting! When is the best (read cheapest) time of year to visit Japan? Of course it won't be for more than a year from now.
